Guidance on the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme: the Brand Standard
The Brand Standard provides local authorities in England with advice and guidance on all aspects of implementation and operation of the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS).
The aim is to ensure that where food business establishments are rated under the scheme and where consumers see scheme branding, they can be confident that the local authority is operating the FHRS as the Food Standards Agency intends.
The guidance, which was developed by the UK-wide Food Hygiene Ratings Steering Group, was first issued in September 2010. It was revised in January 2012, August 2013, July 2014, March 2016, March 2017 and June 2017.
