Approved milk and dairy product establishments

Under food hygiene legislation, food businesses handling milk and dairy products require approval unless they benefit from specific exemptions.

Lists of approved milk and dairy products establishments in the UK can be found at the links below. There are about 1,200 establishments on the lists, which are published here in Microsoft Excel format and updated monthly.

In GB, all establishments handling liquid milk and dairy products are approved by local authorities and are subject to official controls enforced and executed by local authorities.

In NI, standalone liquid milk establishments are approved by the Food Standards Agency and subject to official controls enforced and executed by DARD, Agri-food Inspection Branch (AfIB), on behalf of FSA in NI.

Stand alone dairy product establishments are approved by the District Councils and are subject to official controls enforced and executed by the District Councils.

Liquid milk establishments integrated with dairy product establishments are approved by the Food Standards Agency. These integrated establishments are subject to joint enforcement by DARD, Agri-food Inspection Branch (AfIB), on behalf of FSA in NI and the District Council.
