Impact / De Minimis Assessments
An Impact Assessment (IA) is a policy tool to assess impacts of options considered, including the expected costs and benefits, and summarises the rationale for Government intervention. De Minimis Assessments are proportionate assessments or estimates of the impacts for measure certified as below the de minimis threshold [currently set at ± £10m Equivalent Annual Net Direct Cost to Business (EANDCB)]
Understanding the impact of proposed changes to our regulatory approach is fundamental to good policy making. Impact Assessments (IAs) are developed using stakeholder evidence, and are therefore normally first published on our website under consultation. De Minimis Assessments normally follow the development process as Impact Assessments.
Once the evidence gathering stage is over, a Final Stage IA or De Minimis Assessments is published on our website.
