Mars Chocolate UK recalls products produced in the Netherlands that might contain pieces of plastic

Mars Chocolate UK has taken the precautionary step of recalling products produced in the Netherlands that possibly contain pieces of plastic. Other products are being recalled in Europe which have not been distributed via the Mars UK distribution route.

The products listed below may contain pieces of plastic. This means the products are a possible risk to health.

The UK recall from consumers concerns only the products below, with the stated ‘best before’ dates, which were manufactured in the Netherlands and distributed in the UK.

Mars Chocolate UK has taken the precautionary measure of recalling all bars that may be affected. Mars Chocolate UK has published a press release which is attached to this notice.

In addition to the products listed above, consumers should be aware that the recall issued by the Dutch manufacturer (Veghel) covers other products. These are being recalled in the Netherlands and which may not have been distributed via the Mars UK distribution route.

About product recalls and withdrawals

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.
