Co-op is recalling its Hollow Milk Chocolate Santa because of two reports of alleged product tampering where the product was found to contain small batteries. The presence of small batteries makes this product unsafe to eat and presents a risk to health.


The product below may contain small batteries which are a choking hazard and can cause burns if swallowed.

Our advice to consumers

If you have bought any of the product do not eat it. Instead, customers can also contact Co-op’s Customer Relation Team on 0800 0686 727.

Action taken by the Company

Co-op is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling the product. These notices explain to customers why it is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it. The notice is attached here:

About product recalls and withdrawals

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).
