Young’s recalls Chip Shop Fish Cakes because they may contain pieces of plastic and metal

Young’s is recalling its Chip Shop Fish Cakes 6 pack due to the possible presence of pieces of plastic and metal in some packs. The presence of plastic and metal makes this product unsafe to eat and presents a safety risk. The affected product is sold in some Farmfoods and Heron Foods stores.

Product: Chip shop fish cakes 6 pack (frozen)

Pack size: 300g

'Best before' end date & batch number:

January 2019: AAL 7209K & AAL 7209L

February 2019: AAK 7222J & AAL 7222K

No other young’s products are known to be affected


Products may contain pieces of hard plastic and metal which could represent a safety risk.  

Our advice to consumers

If you have bought any of the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Action taken by the company

Young’s is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.

About product recalls and withdrawals

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).
