Agenda and papers for the October 2023 Northern Ireland Food and Drink Advisory Committee (NIFAC) meeting
NIFAC date 31.10.2023
Food Fraud/Food Crime
The theme of this meeting is Food Fraud/Food Crime. The meeting will be held at Queen’s University Belfast, followed by a tour of their facilities. To set the context, the Committee will receive a presentation from the FSA food fraud liaison officer who will outline the role of the National Food Crime Unit (NFCU), examples of food crime, the FSA’s intelligence and investigations role, training, and future work.
The Committee will then receive a presentation from the Institute for Global Food Security followed by a tour of their facilities.
Following the tour, there will be an opportunity for the Committee to discuss the theme in more detail, allowing NIFAC members to ask questions to help inform the Committee’s advice and information to the FSA on this topic.
There will also be a discussion around themes for the 2024 NIFAC meetings and a session where members can feed back on any recent stakeholder engagement.
Members are invited to:
• Consider the content of the visit and presentations
• Comment and consider the impacts for Northern Ireland
• Consider themes for 2024 NIFAC meetings.
