FSA publishes its Annual Report and Accounts for 2017/18

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has today published its Annual Report and Accounts for the last financial year. It covers our performance and activities in 2017/18 across England, Wales and Northern Ireland at a net cost of £93.2m.

Summary of discussions from the FSA Board meeting 20 June 2018

At its quarterly meeting on Wednesday 20 June, the Food Standards Agency Board discussed EU Exit, the Mid-Point Review of the Regulating Our Future (ROF) Programme, an interim update on the Cutting Plants and Cold Stores Review, the controls on Raw Drinking Milk (RDM), a decision to now implement Phase 2 of the National Food Crime Unit (NFCU), and the FSA’s International Strategy.

In Northern Ireland, we have collected insight to inform and strengthen partnerships and develop effective policy responses to tackle food poverty.

The Eatwell Guide makes healthy eating easier to understand by giving a visual representation of the types of foods and drinks we should consume and in what proportions to have a healthy, balanced diet.

Advisory Committees - Board Operating Framework

The Food Standards Act requires advisory committees for Northern Ireland and Wales to advise the Agency on its functions, particularly regarding national matters, as detailed in Schedule II of the Act.

Guidance on responsibilities for functions and decisions in the FSA - Scheme of Delegations

The Board holds overall responsibility for the FSA’s activities, excluding the duties of the Accounting Officer. Operational functions can be performed by the Chief Executive or other staff on behalf of the Board. Additionally, the Chief Executive delegates responsibilities to the Executive Management Team and other individuals or committees, overseeing their execution.
