Appointments to the Food Standards Agency's Welsh Food Advisory Committee

The Food Standards Agency is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to the Welsh Food Advisory Committee (WFAC).

John Richards and Ifan Lloyd have been appointed to the Committee for a three-year term commencing on 1 July 2025.

The WFAC is chaired by Dr Rhian Hayward, the FSA Board Member for Wales.. The Committee comprises of independent experts selected for their practical experience and specialist knowledge in areas including enforcement, the food industry, agriculture, food-related science, and consumer interests.

Dr Hayward said:

"I am delighted to welcome John Richards and Ifan Lloyd to the Welsh Food Advisory Committee. Their experience in Welsh agriculture and veterinary science, combined with their strong industry backgrounds, will be invaluable in strengthening the Committee’s ability to provide robust, evidence-based advice to the FSA on food matters affecting Wales."

The WFAC plays a vital role in ensuring food and feed safety in Wales. Established under the Food Standards Act 1999, WFAC is a statutory requirement, created to provide independent advice to the FSA on matters affecting Wales.
