We were seeking stakeholders’ views in relation to regulated product applications for eight genetically modified organisms (GMOs) for food and feed uses, which have been submitted for authorisation, and for the change of authorisation holder for fifty-one authorised GMOs.

Consultation subject

This consultation concerned eight (8) GMOs that have been submitted for authorisation in Great Britain (GB).  EU legislation relating to regulated products continues to apply in Northern Ireland, under the current terms of the Northern Ireland Protocol (NIP).  

Also included in this consultation was an administrative change to the authorisation holder’s details for fifty-one (51) authorised GMOs.  

In addition to this consultation, we have also published a joint Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) scientific opinions document, relating to the relevant GMOs.  We also welcome comments on these.

The proposed terms of authorisation and our assessment of the potential impact is provided - see the consultation pack.   We were seeking your feedback on this assessment and any further evidence you may have on the impacts that we should take account of.  

This was an opportunity to input on the advice given to Ministers to inform decision making.
