Since leaving the European Union (EU), the FSA and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) have taken on responsibility for assessing food and animal feed safety in the UK. As part of this enhanced role, we will be publishing information about the issues we are working on. Users can track the issues being reviewed as well as what stage they are at in the process.

Rebecca Sudworth, Director of Policy at the FSA said:

‘We have committed to uphold the highest standards of food and feed safety, applying our core principles of openness and transparency. To that end, we have published a register of the risk analysis issues and regulated products applications currently under our consideration. This information will be updated as issues move through the process and will provide a point of reference for applicants, businesses and consumers on current food safety issues under consideration.’

Two registers have been published:

Register of risk analysis issues

The register of risk analysis issues gives information about issues that are being considered through our food and animal feed risk analysis process. It provides a summary of each issue and its current status.

Register of regulated product applications

The register of regulated products is a list of the applications received through the regulated products application service which we are assessing.

Regulated products include:

To be placed on the list, an application must have passed initial checks to make sure they contain all the necessary information (i.e. have been validated). The register provides some detail about the applicant, the product itself and also shows the current stage of the application progress.

The format for both registers will continue to evolve and improve over the coming months.
